History, the Public, and the Market
Everyone and everything have a past. Most people, then, have an intuitive understanding of history. Yet in our future-oriented culture of tech and apps today, history is often overlooked. How do we connect people to pasts they understand and value? How do we transform the teaching and research that are part of the study of history into the practice of history for a broader public and marketplace? This course helps students understand the practice of history in relation to economic forces, political dynamics, and societal transformations and it trains students to identify professional skills that comes from the practice of history such as research, analysis, content creation, storytelling, teamwork, and leadership. Ultimately, students design and execute a history product of their choice in order to apply these knowledge and skills.
